Landlords of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) have a legal responsibility to ensure the safety of their tenants, especially in relation to fire hazards. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, a fire risk assessment is a mandatory requirement for all communal areas of residential properties that are shared by occupants.
